Seaside Photography Questions and Answers

Everything that you thought to ask and more!

Below are some of the questions I get asked most frequently as a Seaside Beach Photographer, if your question isn’t answered below, give me a call or send me an email and I will be more than happy to answer all your questions.

What areas do you travel to for portrait sessions and beach photography?

Seaside fl beach photographer photography family
Locally we serve Seaside,  Watercolor, Watersound, Grayton Beach, Destin, Ft Walton,  30A and all those little beach towns in between but we love to travel so don’t be afraid to inquire if we can come to your area!

When should we schedule our Seaside photography session?
As our Seaside beach photographer, our appointments book quickly during spring, summer and fall, schedule your appointment as far in advance as you can. If you are visiting our area make your appointment for the first day that your entire group will be available in case your session has to be reschedule due to bad weather. We monitor the weather frequently throughout the day to predict the best window of opportunity for your portraits as it rarely rains all day. So it is important that your schedule be flexible on the day of your session in case your time has to be changed. Beautiful portraits are obtained on cloudy days too as the lighting is very soft, there will be less squinting and the shadows won’t be as harsh. If we can’t complete your session on your scheduled date due to weather, we will reschedule you for another day and time. (destin fl beach photographer photography family)

How long will our Seaside portrait session last?
Your Seaside fl beach photographer photography family session will last up to one hour, senior and and newborn sessions are generally longer. The location of your session is completely up to you as I am very flexible. If you are not really sure about where you want your session to take place, I would be happy to recommend the perfect place for your portrait session such as the beach,  a local park, your hotel or condo or your own family home and backyard.   The emphasis during all sessions is on you, the client being relaxed and having fun and me creating the images you are looking for. I will take a variety of portraits including candid and posed so you will have several different options to choose from when ordering.  Parents  are encouraged to be involved during your children’s session as you know your children better than anyone and just what makes them smile and show their true personalities. I will work with your child to make sure that they are comfortable and having fun. There is no set number of images taken during a session. I will take as many as are necessary to insure that I have captured the portraits that you want.

Can we do different poses or separate family groups during our Seaside photography session?
We will start your Seaside fl beach photographer photography family session off with group shots and then break down into individual and smaller groups as time allows. If you have any ideas or particular poses that you would like photographed, I will be happy to accommodate you as time allows. I will also do candid shots throughout the session.

Where do we meet?
We will meet at the location you have chosen for your Seaside fl beach photographer photography family portraits or a per-arranged location convenient for us all.

Can we get wet during our beach session?
Why yes, yes you can! I would love it if you did. Water shots are my all time favorite. Seaside has the most beautiful beaches and emerald green waters in the world and they make perfect photography backdrops. If you would like water shots captured at the beach we will do these towards the end of your session. Remember to bring towels and a change of clothes.

How do I contact you to schedule an appointment for a Seaside photography session?

You may use the contact form on this website to obtain available dates or you may email me at info@tina-smith-photography.com

How do I get your package and price information?
Please fill out the inquiry form on the contact page and submit a request for information

Is a deposit/retainer required to hold the date?
Session fees are required as the deposit/retainer to book your session. You will be sent an online invoice for the retainer once you have called or emailed us for an available date. You can pay the invoice online by credit card, or if you wish to pay by check, you may mail a check as long as it is received within 5 days of our conversation.

What is a session fee?
A session fee is a creative fee that is charged to cover the photographers time and effort in creating your portraits. Session fees vary depending on the type of portraits you are having created, the location and the time involved in creating your portraits. The session fee is not applied toward your purchased prints. All prints and products are sold separately.

How do I style my hair?
I recommended that you wear your hair the way you normally do but since it may be windy outside, use lots of hairspray! And bring a comb or brush with you for touch ups. If the day of your session arrives and it’s really windy, you may want to wear your hair in and updo style as we can’t control the wind. Bring hair clips, pony tail ties, pins etc. If you would like to have your hair and makeup done professionally, we would be happy to recommend one of our amazing local stylist.

What if I wear eye glasses?
I realize that your eye glasses are part of who you are (believe me, my husband and I have this conversation every time I point my camera in his direction  as he has worn glasses since his teen years) and I would never dream of asking you to remove them and I will do everything in my power to ensure that you look great wearing your glasses in your portraits. However your lenses are reflective and will reflect images in your line of vision, yes sometimes even the photographer.  I use flash even outdoors and it will sometimes reflect off you glasses. That being said, it is a good idea to borrow a pair of frames  with no lenses in them from your eye doctor that you can wear during your session.

How long does it take to get my pictures after our portrait session?
Your session proofs will be upload to a private password protected proofing gallery within 3-4 weeks of your session. You will receive an email from us directing you to your online proofing gallery and instructions on how to order.

What happens if the weather is bad?

Unfortunately, weather conditions are out of our control so should the weather be bad with heavy rain or strong winds, then we will reschedule the shoot and I will contact you as soon as possible if this is necessary. If you are visiting our area on vacation it is a good idea to book your session as early into your stay as possible in case it has to be rescheduled due to weather.  Often in Florida during our summer we have lots of scattered showers that come and go all day long. If this is the case on the day of your session, I may call you and arrange to shoot your session at a different time of the day in-between the showers as it is not necessary to have bright sunshine for a successful portrait session, in fact, a slightly cloudy day is often much more ideal. If you are an out of town client and we are unable to complete your session due to weather and I can’t reschedule due to your schedule or mine, your session fee will be refunded.
